The NEW Lighting Design..?
From the online talks I’ve been involved in over the past weeks & the continued Lockdown, my mind strayed into the ideas around sustainability, nature, light & effect.
Naturally glowing waterbodies, might our backyard pools glow on their own at night? Using dinoflagellates, when the surrounding water is disturbed it emits a glow known as bioluminescence. They require phytoplankton to survive hence the ‘ocean dwelling’ & many of the species are toxic, it may need a rethink!
Some species of fungi & their ability to glow? Could research into this provide a more sustainable approach to illuminating our garden or our streets? Could we light our home?! Or is it simply an ornamental idea?
Which led on to ‘smart’ LED farms, ‘A no weather required crop!’ It’s said that LED farms use up to 98% less water & no pesticides, stacked crops increase yields. If it’s so commercially viable for businesses via bigger, faster & smarter, could it work for you & me? Is it ok to implement nature’s assets in such a way?
A naturally lit pool by Sea Sparkles (Noctiluca Scintillans), glow in the dark Fungi (for example Mycena Chlorophos) to illuminate your home and garden and your own LED farm; ‘grow your own at home!’.... your own fruit and veg that is!
